Legislators

Last Thursday, members of the Tift County Development Authority and the Government Relations Committee of the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce, along with area government and business leaders traveled to Atlanta to participate in the Georgia Economic Developers Association Annual Legislative Reception.
The reception was sponsored by the Tift County Development Authority.
The group met with Representative Austin Scott at the Capital before the reception to learn about what happened during the first week of the legislative session. Important points he touched on included education, transportation, tax policy, and healthcare to name a few. Scott, who is in the race for Georgia’s next Governor is a Tifton native.
During the reception, the group had a chance to meet with other state legislators, including Governor Perdue to inform him of issues important to Tifton and Southwest Georgia.
Hundreds of attendees filled the Georgia Rail Freight Depot across from the Capital to converse with our state legislators about important issues for 2010.
