Tifton-Tift County Education


All Tift County schools are accredited by SACS and also, by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. The system's 7,500 students have access to innovative instructional programs including advanced placement, joint enrollment, post-secondary options, apprenticeships and gifted education opportunities. At least 15 students score over 1360 on the SAT each year along with the system's several Georgia Scholars and Governor's Honors Students annually. All schools have Internet access and networked computers. The ration of computers to students at Tift County High School is 1:4; in grades K-12, the ratio is 1:3.


Tiftarea Academy, a private school located north of Tifton in Chula, serves students from K4 through 12th grades. The school states its purpose as “to provide a quality education in a moral and disciplined atmosphere. The goals of the academy are to maintain academic and athletic excellence through high standards or curriculum, teacher qualifications, student selection and facility maintenance.”

Higher Education


As a State College of the University System of Georgia, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College now offers bachelor's degrees as well as its traditional associate degrees.  Over 3,600 students from 154 counties, 12 states, and 10 countries attend ABAC.  Brand new campus housing accommodates 1,300 of these students.


UGA Tifton Campus is represented by the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.  Four academic programs are offered on the UGA Tifton Campus – two undergraduate degrees, The Agriscience and Environmental Systems (AES) and the Agricultural Education (Ag Ed). The two graduate programs include, The Master of Plant Protection and Pest Management and The Master of Agricultural Leadership.


A vital part of the economy and workforce development in the Tifton area, Moultrie Tech serves over 2,300 degree, diploma and certificate students in a four-county area and online, and over 900 of those students get their training in Tifton.  Moultrie Tech is the local administrator of Georgia's Quick Start program, an internationally-renowned job training program providing customized training for new or expanding companies as well as the Remote Automation Management Project (RAMP) training.


Troy University's Tifton Site is part of a global university with over sixty-two locations around the world and over 30,000 students. At Troy University and through the Tifton Site, we serve the surrounding areas with high quality degree programs that consist of weeknight, weekend, and online classes, designed for the non-traditional degree seeking student. Undergraduate, Graduate, and Continuing Education programs are available either onsite or via eCampus (online) in a variety of professional degree programs. Troy University is an accredited institution through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
