Tifton has a highly skilled, motivated and diversified workforce experienced in three-shift operations. The population draw is approximately 158,220 with a 5.6% unemployment rate based on the Georgia area labor profile. Tift County labor force participation rate is 94%, the highest in our 18-county region.


The annual tax for each $1,000 of property, at 40% or fair market values, is $11.22 within the city of Tifton, and $9.41 outside the city. The city and county exercise a 2% local sales tax in addition to the 4% sales tax assessed by the state; the city and county exercise a 1% local option sales tax; and a 2% special purpose local option sales tax to fun county-wide capital projects for the school system.

Distribution, Manufacturing and Warehousing: Tift County's access to Interstate 75 and U.S. Highways 82 and 319 and its geographic location in the Southeast have allowed it to become a center for companies seeking to distribute products to customers throughout the Southeast.


Innovative Agriculture & Bioscience Technology: The National Environmentally Sound Production Agriculture Laboratory (NESPAL) Technology Development Center (TDC) is an incubator designed for commercialization of research conducted on the University of Georgia's Tifton campus. The TDC is a partnership of UGA, Advanced Technology Development Centers, Georgia Research Alliance, and the community.

Business Service: Tift County is the business and industry center of an eight-county region, reaching more than 165,000 people.

Back Office Operations: With access to available labor, various types of office space, and a community-owned fiber-optic network, Tift County is a prime location for companies seeking to establish back office operations in a non-metro setting.

Site Selection

Tifton has two fully developed industrial parks: The Crossings Distribution Park and the Magnolia International Business Park. A community-owned speculative building, rail serviceable with underground facilities, is currently available, along with over 500 acres of site options.
