Coc-Cola United Tifton facility opens

TIFTON – After more than a year of construction and $60 million investment, the Coca-Cola United sales center and warehouse that was first announced in 2019 is up and running. While the finishing touches are still being put on the building, the facility is already humming and there is a official opening planned for later in the fall.

The 300,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility is intended to serve as a distribution hub, distributing products and services the customers and other sales facilities throughout South Georgia and parts of Florida. Approximately 4.5 million cases of non-alcoholic beverages are slated to be distributed out of the facility, which should be employing around 200 people.

Coca-Cola United has already begun making its presence known in the community. Banners can be seen all over town saying that Coke is “coming home to Tifton,” a reference to a former warehouse once being located in Tifton. The company has also begun investing in the community. A $200,000 grant was given to Southern Regional Technical College for investment in technical and industrial programs and education.

The partnership with Coca Cola United will pay in significant dividends through the education of our workforce with their generous investment in tech and industrial education,” said Tifton Mayor Julie Smith. “Offering our citizens opportunities to be trained, be educated and exposed to employment possibilities will ensure that our tax base remains strong, and that people are gainfully employed.  When employees can take care of their families and spend their hard-earned dollars locally, we all benefit.”

Tift County Board of Commissioners Chairman Tony McBrayer said that Coca-Cola United is a very welcome addition to the community.

“They have invested more than $65 million in a state-of-the-art sales and distribution center and created over 200 jobs,” McBrayer said. “Their wage rates and benefits exceed market norms for our region of the State. Overall, their annual economic impact to our local economy is well above $20 million. They are also committed to being a great corporate partner…they recently awarded a $200,000 workforce development grant to Southern Regional Technical College to support industry-related offerings. We are fortunate to have a great industrial base in Tift County and Coca Cola United will continue the tradition of quality companies calling Tift County home.”
